Wichelstowe is located to the south of Swindon, close enough to the town centre and the Old Town to walk or cycle to the shops and restaurants. It’s under three miles to the station, which offers frequent trains to London Paddington, Bath and Bristol and provides quick access to the M4. Development in East Wichel started in 2008 and is now almost complete. Work is now underway at Canalside which will include the District Centre and the first houses.
A joint venture agreement has been signed between Swindon Borough Council and Barratt Developments to bring around 3,000 homes to the remainder of the Wichelstowe site. Selling homes under the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands the first residents will move in to the Joint Venture homes during 2020.

The design and layout of the Wichelstowe site is controlled by the site-wide masterplan. Design Codes are also produced which set the design rules and character for each distinct area of development.
