Superb sales at launch of Canalside

Eager buyers have reserved 12 homes at the highly successful launch of one of the most significant new developments in Swindon’s recent history.

Five-star housebuilders David Wilson Homes and Barratt Homes opened the doors to their new sales centres at Canalside @ Wichelstowe, marking the first time people have been able to reserve new homes at the development.

The latest phase of Wichelstowe, named Canalside @ Wichelstowe, will feature a mix of 208 apartments and houses which will be ready for the first residents to move into next year.

David Wilson Homes sales director Louise Ware said: “We’ve been absolutely thrilled with the reception to our new homes. Buyers are very savvy and know that by reserving off-plan they can get their pick of the plots. We are proud of the new community we’re creating here and look forward to giving our first residents their keys next year.”

Andrea Pilgrim, sales director at Barratt Homes, added: “We have rarely registered so much interest in a new development which is testament to the great new community we’re building here. It’s a sought-after location with a great mix of homes, which is ticking all the right boxes for buyers.”

The first properties now available from Barratt Homes include apartments priced from £154,995, three-bedroom Maidstone houses from £284,995 and the larger four-bedroom Chester homes priced from £329,995.

The first homes from David Wilson Homes include the two-bedroom Cherwell apartment priced from £180,000 and the four-bedroom Wichel Stray house design, priced from £405,000.

Buyers will also be able to take advantage of Help to Buy on homes at Wichelstowe with benefits for both first time buyers and those moving up the housing ladder.

Wichelstowe is being delivered by a joint venture company which is a 50:50 partnership between Swindon Borough Council and Barratt Developments plc. Over the next 20 years, the Wichelstowe Joint Venture will deliver around 3,000 new homes on a 250-hectare area of land. Wichelstowe, which will have an extensive area of open space featuring playing pitches, allotments and nature conservation, will include three primary schools and a secondary school.
