Canalside will be the most active area of Wichelstowe centred around the Wilts and Berks Canal and the existing Waitrose store. Construction activity has started and by the start of 2018 all of the development activity listed below will be underway.
The first new homes – elegant terraced townhouses that echo Swindon’s Victorian streets – will be available in 2018. Whatever style you choose, our homes have been designed to maximise space and light. Step inside and you’ll find features such as large windows, high ceilings, and larger than standard rooms.
Deanery CE Academy
The Deanery CE Academy will be a brand new secondary school with outstanding sports and arts facilities run by the Diocese of Bristol Academies Trust. As well as providing fantastic facilities for its pupils the school will be a vibrant meeting place for diverse groups, bringing together families and community groups with an all-inclusive ethos. The school will open for year 7 pupils in September 2019.
Hall and Woodhouse, Wichelstowe
H&W will be an urban, all-day, multi-occasion café, bar and restaurant located on the banks of the canal. In, and part of, the local community it will be THE place where locals and visitors alike come to belong, relax, share and celebrate from breakfast to bedtime. At all times of the day there will be a buzz – something going on.
The six different areas (Bar, Common Room, Dining Room, Colourful Coffee Station and Al Fresco) will host a multitude of emotional and functional occasions and offer Guests more than simply an everyday meal or pub experience.
Wilts & Berks Canal restoration
The existing Wilts & Berks Canal will be improved with a new well-lit footpath and a landmark footbridge linking the Waitrose store with the new public square. Work will start in the Autumn 2017.
